- General liability: Covers injuries to spectators and players. Most municipalities require operators to carry set limits and name them as additional insured.
- Property coverage: Clubhouses, concession stands, lighting, scoreboards and maintenance equipment need coverage.
- Liquor liability: If the facility serves alcohol at events, standard liability may exclude it.
- Participant accident coverage: Leagues often buy it to cover medical costs for injured players.
- Workers' compensation: Required once you have employees, including seasonal groundskeepers and referees.
For Neighboring Homeowners
Homes near golf courses and sports fields face stray balls, lighting and traffic. Most homeowners policies cover accidental damage such as a ball through a window, but your deductible applies. If you see repeated damage, document it and tell your agent. Field lighting and drainage changes can also affect runoff, so ask about water damage and flood coverage.
